Proverbs 31 (part 1)

I did a personal study on the passage of Proverbs 31:10-31. These verses describe the Virtuous woman, and I'd like to share what I found with you. This will be broken down in verses, and presented in King James Version and New International Version.

Proverbs 31:10
Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. (KJV)

A wife of noble character who can find?
She is worth far more than rubies. (NIV)

A virtuous woman is priced above rubies. The word chayil is used for virtuous, which can also mean an army, wealth, virtue, valor, and strength. This virtuous woman is seen as more then just virtue.

A woman with these traits is priceless. According to Miriam-Webster, this is what each word means now.

Army- A body of persons organized to advance a cause

Wealth- An abundance of valuable material possesions and resources; abundant supply

Virtue-conformity to a standard of right; a beneficial quality or power to a thing;manly strength or courage; a capacity to act; chasisty, especially in a woman

Valor- strength of mind or spirit that enables a person to encounter danger with fimness; personal bravery

Strength- quality or state of being strong; power to resist force; power to resist attack

This is how a woman is described in one word. This is a woman who is priced above rubies. She is more precious then precious stones.

The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. (KJV)

Her husband has full confidence in her    and lacks nothing of value. (NIV)

The heart of her husband is his being. A virtuous woman's husband can trust her with his money, with his soul, with his children, with his household, with anything. He doesn't need to go out in to the streets to find love. He doesn't need to go to war to get spoils and riches. He has a wife at home who loves him. She takes care of him, and he trusts her.

So, ladies, are we virtuous today?
